A Code of Ethics.

Members of NALS of Missouri are bound by the objectives of this association and the standards of conduct required of the legal profession.

Every member shall:

  • Encourage respect for the law and the administration of justice;
  • Observe rules governing privileged communications and confidential information;
  • Promote and exemplify high standards of loyalty, cooperation and courtesy;
  • Perform all duties of the profession with integrity and competence; and
  • Pursue a high order of professional attainment.


Membership in NALS of Missouri is open to persons employed as legal secretaries, legal assistants, paralegals, law office administrators, stenographers, typists or clerks in any law related office; any person employed in the courts, the trust department of banks or trust companies; any person employed by any public or private institution or office directly engaged in work of a legal nature - including the public offices of the United States Government, state, city, county or municipality; or full-time students enrolled in law-related curriculum.

Membership in NALS of Missouri includes membership in NALS...the association for legal professionals, as well as membership in a local chapter (where available). This tri-level membership entitles members to all the benefits, publications, and opportunities in the national association, and state and local chapters.
